Olympic gold medalist Richard Thompson yesterday thanked the T&T public for their support, while calling out the government for its lack of support of elite athletes.
In a post to social media website Facebook, Thompson, who was yesterday given the news that silver medals the 4 x 100 Mens relay team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics would be upgraded to silver, Thompson shared his happiness.
"We may sound repetitive but we really mean it when we say that every opportunity that we're given to represent T&T is truly an honour. We've experienced highs and lows but regardless of what time or place the result board shows, there's no greater pride than seeing TTO next to our names," Thompson said.
However, while the athlete remained grateful to the public, he also used the opportunity to highlight issues regarding the support of athletes from the Ministry of Sport.
