It was quite comforting when I heard that an alleged rape accused was not granted bail. Rape is a very serious crime which can lead to the destruction of a life. Our women are not animals and even animals are not treated in this way. The time has come when loud messages must be sent to those who choose to go down that road. This will in no way be tolerated.
I guarantee you, if the legal system is consistent, criminals would think twice before committing the crime. I am sure, in some small way, the victims will feel a sense of relief that they are being taken seriously. Although there is no way to put this wrong right, no bail can help.
I want to once more plead with the relevant authorities to implement a register (with pictures) so that the country can be warned about these criminal elements. People must also see that something positive is being done. Once again, I would like to say good job. Use all that you have at your disposal, judges.
