T&T has been blessed with an unlimited resource of natural talent, be it in the creative arts, literary arts, sports, science, design or fashion. While it is commendable that specific state companies were established to facilitate the harnessing and promotion of such talent, it is disheartening to see a number of decision makers from these entities having their personal agendas as their main priority and this is cause for major concern.
There is an obvious display of self-importance, egocentrism, cronyism and nepotism among these individuals entrusted with the future of our current and upcoming dream chasers. To all of you who have made your job a self-serving task; who made it ‘all about you’, take your act somewhere else—take it where your integrity is less likely to be questioned. You serve no purpose, you are a threat to overall growth, you hinder development, and you cripple the evolution of true potential.
I’m appealing to those who sit on boards charged with the responsibility of assisting others to realise their dreams, that they do the honourable thing and just step down and step away. There are people capable of producing results and have an overall inclusive progressive agenda. Why do we still continue to choose the less suitable over those who are more worthy? When will we get it right? It’s time to appoint suitable people to the boards of these state companies. Let us truly assist our nation’s talented individuals in realising their dreams and aspirations.
