No confidence in TTPost, too

It was with disbelief I realised that the book I ordered from amazon.com on January 6 and which was dispatched from their US warehouse and received in Trinidad on February 9, was not delivered to me. Amazon’s customer service apologised and refunded my purchase based solely on my report of not having received my order although their tracking indicated that the package was received by TTPost in Trinidad.

Calls and emails to TTPost customer service regarding the location of the package were futile; they had no information about my delivery.

As a teenager my monthly deliveries of PC Magazine were either opened at the Marabella post office and delivered two or three months later. I received 10 out of 12 magazines annually and accepted this status quo. Now at 46, should I expect my mail not to be stolen by TTPost employees (newer technology, same T&T culture) today?

Possible solution: If we can’t upgrade T&T ethos to include honesty when no one is looking, provide independent oversight by placing cameras in all mail handling locations and hire an independent CCTV company, maybe from another country, to archive and monitor the CCTV activity and which is paid for by TTPost whenever they email video of improper employee actions to the local police.

If TTPost really believes in their collective integrity, they can pay for independent oversight.
